Rest in the heart of historic

Cregneash Village

Visitors to the Sound who travel by road will pass through the picturesque hamlet of Cregneash, high in the southern hills above Port St Mary and Port Erin. This small farming community continued traditional Max Gaelic customs through to the early twentieth century, and is now carefully preserved by Manx National Heritage as a testament to that rugged way of life. One of the best places to spot the Island’s famed four-horned Loghtan sheep, the hamlet is also a haven for other traditional farming creatures, such as shorthorn cows, plough horses, and the occasional Manx cat.

The attractions are open from the Easter holidays through to Halloween, when traditional Hop tu Naa celebrations are held there. During the season, you can learn about the crofting lifestyle through the homes, tools, and crafts of the era, as well as pop into our lovingly maintained cafe for a warm drink and a tasty snack.
